As a Clinical Nurse Manager II, you will have a pivotal role in service planning, coordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical area. The CNM II coordinates and leads in the implementation and provision of quality care.
Responsibilities:- Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence-based, care planning approach
- Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership
- Be responsible for the coordination, assessment, planning, delivery, and review of service user care by all staff in designated areas
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to service users within the guidelines laid out by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
- Participate in teams/meetings/committees as appropriate, communicating and working in cooperation with other team members
- Facilitate coordination, cooperation, and liaison across healthcare teams
- Collaborate with service users, family, carers, and other staff in treatment/care
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care by personal involvement and supervising the activities of other qualified nurses
- Ensure care delivered by the team is based on evidence-based practice and hospital policy
- Regularly evaluate and monitor patient care using hospital quality systems
- Develop and promote good relationships with patients, families, and carers, making the ward welcoming
- Work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team promoting teamwork and excellent patient care
- Evaluate and develop the department's philosophy, objectives, and goals
- Ensure staff are familiar with equipment use and maintenance
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information
The CNM II provides supervision, coordination, and deployment of nursing and support staff to ensure optimum care in the designated area.
- Manage communication at ward and departmental levels and facilitate team building
- Provide staff leadership and motivation to support good working relations and performance
- Manage resources efficiently and lead practice development within the clinical area
- Lead on change and participate in the development of nursing policies and procedures
- Monitor and lead proactive improvement; contribute to policies at area and hospital levels
- Participate in Nursing Management structure and deputise for senior management when required
- Maintain clinical and administrative records and reporting arrangements
- Participate in an on-call rota
The CNM II ensures care is based on assessment of individual needs and promotes this within the ward team.
- Ensure staff development and induction programs are in place
- Ensure each staff member has a personal development plan for current and future roles
- Foster a reflective practice environment
The successful candidate will possess:
- Registration in the General Division of the live Register of Nurses kept by NMBI
- Completion of a Management Course or commitment to undertake same
- Minimum 5 years qualified experience in a Medical environment
- Previous management experience essential
- Experience in change management
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Awareness of HR policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Active role in continuous improvement using lean tools
- Excellent communication skills with medical staff, multidisciplinary teams, patients, and relatives
- Implement change in line with new developments in nursing
- Work as an effective multidisciplinary team member
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills
