About the Role

As a General Casualty Underwriter, you will contribute towards the growth and build-out of our casualty business across all relevant distribution channels, pre-qualify accounts and select risks within our risk appetite.

  • Support the development and expansion of our Irish Casualty team focused on profitable growth
  • Establish, develop and expand broker and customer relationships
  • Underwrite Primary and Excess accounts with appropriate analysis and documentation while ensuring discipline, diligence and quality service
  • Effectively communicate our value proposition
  • Be a positive ambassador for the company by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Select risks within our risk appetite and expanding and developing new business opportunities with brokers and customers
  • Work closely with actuaries, the claims team and underwriters from across the broader team
  • Necessary character, relationship building and negotiating skills to help lead and further build a profitable book of business
  • Focused on a positive customer experience, while maintaining sound underwriting discipline

Key Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years of Casualty Underwriting experience
  • Existing broker and customer relationships or the ability to develop strong broker and customer relationships quickly
  • Experience and understanding of policy forms
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills including negotiation and presentation experience
