We are seeking a skilled Operational Database Administrator to join our team in Letterkenny. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with expertise in managing complex databases and ensuring high availability of healthcare IT systems.

About the Role

As an Operational Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing operational database environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs. You will also apply InterSystems IRIS and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Successfully completing all required job training, including Epic certification, within six months of employment and keeping certifications up to date;
  • Creating and managing operational database environments that meet the needs of our business;
  • Applying InterSystems IRIS and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments;
  • Installing and maintaining administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of healthcare IT systems;
  • Understanding performance metrics, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues;
  • Configuring and maintaining environment copies according to the environment strategy;
  • Engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources;
  • Helping manage Change Control processes for all Epic environments build migration and technical activities;
  • Reviewing Sherlock and Galaxy notes and applying routine upgrades to all Epic environment client applications and back-end services;
  • Implementing Epic system high availability strategies and mechanisms;
  • Ensuring Epic application and infrastructure changes are communicated to the necessary teams across the enterprise;
  • Working closely with database, environment/infrastructure and internal/external enterprise security teams;
  • Providing on-call support for production performance/availability or other critical issues;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree qualified in a relevant field (Data Science or STEM subject) or equivalent experience;
  • Strong Linux administration skills, including experience with command line tools, scripting, and troubleshooting;
  • The ability to create, understand, and follow processes to ensure successful execution of critical maintenance.
