Director of Public Affairs Job Description

This is a senior leadership role in our integrated communications agency. As Director of Public Affairs, you will lead the development and implementation of our public policy and regulatory affairs business strategy.

  • You will oversee an integrated team delivering across public affairs and corporate communications, providing C-suite counsel, and contributing to commercial growth in Ireland and the EU/UK and globally.
  • The role involves continuing to define and refine the public affairs offering, shaping and driving the firm's public policy and regulatory affairs business for a diverse client portfolio.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining key responsibilities including:

Key Responsibilities
  • Defining and refining the agency's public affairs business for priority clients and for the client's PA portfolio, aligned to the firm's growth ambitions.
  • Serving as lead strategic adviser to senior client stakeholders (Boards, C-suite), translating complex policy and political dynamics into clear advice and action for these clients.
  • Overseeing, coaching and developing a high-performing team; setting objectives, providing guidance on priorities and workload, and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Embedding and continuously improving best-practice methodologies for insight, planning, execution and measurement across all public affairs engagements.
  • Seeking opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across the practice in European, UK and global markets.
  • Horizon-scanning political, regulatory and policy developments across Ireland and relevant EU/UK institutions; translating insights into timely strategies and recommendations.
  • Leading development of position papers, consultation responses, pre-legislative submissions, policy briefings and thought leadership.
  • Overseeing stakeholder and issue mapping; identifying allies, opponents and coalitions to shape effective influence routes.
