Health and Safety Specialist Opportunity

This role is perfect for a recent graduate with 1-2 years of experience who wants to gain further exposure in the sector.

Aurivo Co-op is a large multi-purpose co-operative engaged in a wide range of activities including dairy processing, liquid milk distribution, animal feed milling, retail stores, e-commerce, garden centres, livestock marketing and sports nutrition.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating H&S activities working in close collaboration with the site's various functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on Health & Safety (H&S) activities.
  • Develop and implement H&S procedures and policies ensuring compliance with legislation, codes, standards, and industry best practice.
  • Facilitate teams in executing planned inspections, risk assessments, training needs analysis, PPE surveys, and occupational health & hygiene surveys.
  • Ensure all accidents and incidents are thoroughly recorded and investigated by Management to identify root causes and take corrective actions.
  • Publish monthly reports to management on incidents and accidents.
  • Work with external medical/occupational health resources to identify, control, and provide information on site occupational health hazards.
  • Maintain records of all relevant H&S documentation using the company's software and electronic filing system.
  • Monitor and review site-specific H&S KPIs.
  • Train staff at all levels on H&S issues and responsibilities.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
  • A relevant qualification in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work with all levels of staff & stakeholders.
  • A drive for achieving a high standard of work.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and work on their own initiative.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft package.
  • Flexibility in working duties and areas of work.
