Environmental Health and Safety Manager

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for leading the charge on maintaining high standards of safety, health, and environmental quality.

They will develop and implement improved EHSQ practices, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

They will remain up-to-date on new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.

They will participate in promoting health-related risks and on-site training, encouraging employee awareness and a proactive approach to EHSQ among all staff members.

They will prepare and update Company health and safety procedures, policies, and safety statements to reflect changing regulatory requirements.

They will ensure that all staff are aware of Company policies and procedures, distributing relevant health and safety documents as necessary.

They will develop training plans, procure, and arrange health and safety training for all staff, managing safety officers and allocating them to live sites.

They will evaluate subcontractor compliance with health and safety legislation on site, conducting accident and incident investigations as necessary.

They will be responsible for preparing accident and incident reports, maintaining and updating accident and incident statistics.

They will liaise with insurance providers regarding claims, including personal injury claims.

They will prepare health and safety plans for projects, liaising with statutory bodies on health, safety, and environmental matters.

They will implement and audit ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards, maintaining and implementing "SafeTcert" accreditation.

They will conduct site safety audits and inspections, providing assistance and guidance to employed safety officers.

They will ensure that Company activities are addressed in health and safety documents and procedures.

They will address safety non-conformances and propose improvements to standards, reporting to senior management on safety-related issues.

They will order and maintain a stock of safety supplies, assisting the marketing department in promoting safety via social media outlets.

They will assist with tenders, pre-qualifications, and prepare presentations for tendering processes and potential client meetings.

Requires a BSc in Health and Safety or equivalent qualification. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Publisher, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Hold Safe Pass and Manual Handling certifications. Possesses at least 5 years of experience in the construction industry and in-depth knowledge of Irish Health and Safety legislation.
