Senior EHS Specialist Role

The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance across site operations and major projects, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, corporate environmental health and safety standards, and industry best practice.

The successful individual will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in General Safety and High-Risk Work Programs, leading Environmental Programs covering air, water, and waste management, and acting as the EHS representative on risk assessments, change management processes, training delivery, and contractor oversight.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing SME support in General Safety and High-Risk Work Programs (Electrical Safety, LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space)
  • Leading and supporting Environmental Programs covering air, water, and waste management
  • Acting as the EHS representative on risk assessments, change management processes, training delivery, and contractor oversight
  • Supporting site and project teams by participating in audits, inspections, incident investigations, and local safety initiatives
  • Carrying out EHS assessments and audits of processes and systems, ensuring alignment with global safety and environmental standards
  • Reporting weekly to management on EHS KPIs, performance metrics, and progress against objectives
  • Promoting and embedding a strong EHS culture across all departments, leading by example

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Safety, or Environmental discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience within the pharmaceutical, chemical, biochemical, petrochemical, or process-related industry
  • Strong, in-depth knowledge of Irish Health & Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Proven success in managing High Risk Work Programs and Contractor Management
  • Experience in supporting multiple projects simultaneously and implementing organisational change
  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders across all levels of the business
  • Strong communication skills with a proven track record in building and maintaining a safety-first culture
  • Self-motivated, technically strong professional able to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
