Job Opportunity: Support and Enablement Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Support and Enablement Specialist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals with intellectual disabilities, enabling them to participate in various activities that promote education, employment, sports, and social/recreational pursuits.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting individuals to identify and express their goals and aspirations
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of natural support networks and social roles
  • Providing person-centered planning, capacity building, social inclusion, positive behavior supports, community development, advocacy, and empowerment services
  • Facilitating opportunities for individuals to engage in educational, vocational, and leisure activities

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A relevant third-level qualification in Social Care, Education, Community Development, or Training (QQI Major Level 6 or higher)
  • A minimum of three years' experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities or similar fields
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and be flexible
  • An awareness of New Directions Personal Support Services for People with Disabilities, the EASI Process, and the Interim Standards for New Directions
  • Ability to utilize alternative communication aids and assistive technology

Additional Requirements

You must also have:

  • A full clean driving license
  • The use of your own vehicle
