The Fisheries Management Specialist role is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team in protecting, managing and conserving Ireland's inland fisheries and sea angling resources.
Main Responsibilities:- Patrol lakes, rivers, sea, coast and estuaries to detect and prevent illegal fishing activities.
- Detect and report pollution incidents, gather information and evidence.
- Inspect commercial Salmon & Sea Trout licence holders for compliance with regulations and bye-laws.
- Check recreational anglers' licences and permits, ensuring adherence to regulations and bye-laws.
- Issue Fixed Penalty Notices for non-compliance.
- Aprehend offenders, gather evidence, attend proceedings, give testimony and provide reports for legal advisers.
- Maintain and operate boats for surveillance and enforcement purposes.
- Perform general maintenance tasks on vehicles, RIBs and surveillance equipment.
- Assist the public with enquiries related to fishing activities.
- Communicate with external bodies such as fishery owners and clubs.
- Patroled areas include lakes, rivers, sea, coast and estuaries.
- Detection and reporting of pollution incidents.
- Inspecting commercial licence holders.
- Recreational anglers inspections.
- Issuing Fixed Penalty Notices.
- Aprehending offenders and gathering evidence.
- Contribute to habitat improvement schemes.
- Conduct research survey work and monitor scientific data.
- Electro-fishing and netting including catching, measuring and releasing fish.
This is an outdoors role requiring comfort working in various weather conditions and near bodies of water.'],
