The role is a key position within the organization's Data Protection Unit, responsible for implementing a strategic transformation programme to ensure effective people, processes, and systems are in place to support statutory and regulatory obligations. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of projects and assignments in data protection and Freedom of Information (FOI) compliance.

Tusla processes a large volume of highly sensitive personal data daily to deliver critical services to children and families across the State. To achieve this, Tusla must have adequate organizational and technical measures in place, respect the rights and freedoms of service users, minimize privacy risks, and implement a fit-for-purpose operating model for data protection and FOI.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the DPO and Deputy DPO in leading internal and external stakeholder engagement on data protection, FOI, and Artificial Intelligence governance.">
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to embed data protection requirements and Privacy by Design and by Default into key processes and controls.">
  • Consult and build strong relationships with the Data Protection Commission (DPC) and Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC).">
  • Support the DPU in informing employees of their GDPR obligations and navigating the complex legislative environment surrounding the GDPR.">
  • Propose technical and organizational measures to ensure data security and develop organizational controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate identified risks.">

The ideal candidate will have senior management experience in data protection regulation and compliance, along with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Minimum 3 years' senior management experience in data protection regulation and compliance.">
