About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations on-site, leading by example, and promoting a culture of excellence in health and safety practices.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of statutory inspections and ensure that all necessary documentation is up-to-date.
  • Provide expert advice on safety-related topics, including noise levels, use of machinery, and personal protective equipment.
  • Collaborate with Site Management to develop and implement effective method statements.
  • Review policies and measures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
  • Inspect premises and work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, and develop strategies to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Review subcontractors' safety statements and ensure that they meet the required standards.
  • Develop and implement safe work plans for tasks on-site.
  • Manage health and safety paperwork on-site, including incident reports and near miss investigations.
  • Source and recommend personal protective equipment (PPE) for on-site employees.
  • Deliver health and safety induction programs for new on-site employees and contractors.

Requirements:
  • A recognized qualification in health and safety is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in an on-site HSO position is preferred.
  • Residential construction experience is highly desirable.
  • Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification is required.
  • The ability to work independently and think innovatively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
