Communications Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Communications Specialist to join our team in developing and implementing effective communication strategies. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to utilize their expertise in media and press relations, content creation, and administrative skills to support our organization's goals.

About the Role:

  • Develop and write high-quality content for internal and external communications channels.
  • Prepare and distribute media pitches, articles, and press releases to key stakeholders.
  • Handle inquiries from journalists and media contacts via phone and email.
  • Organize events, interviews, and press conferences as required.
  • Liaise with media representatives and managers to ensure timely and accurate coverage.
  • Monitor current affairs and media coverage of our organization.
  • Collaborate with service providers such as photographers, videographers, and copywriters.
  • Apply best practices for Plain English and accessibility in all content creation.
  • Provide monthly analytics and analysis of content performance to inform future content development.
  • Offer communications support and guidance to colleagues as needed.
  • Support timely responses to Parliamentary Questions as necessary.
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-impact internal and external campaigns that showcase our organization's work.
  • Assist communications managers and directors in implementing communications strategies and plans.
  • Publish, schedule, and amend content on our website, social media platforms, and newsletters as required.
  • Additional communications and public relations activities as necessary.

Key Requirements:

  • Professional qualifications in relevant areas.
  • Previous experience in communications or public relations in an organizational setting.
  • Current knowledge of best practices in communications and public relations.
  • Demonstrable experience in media and press relations.
  • Proven excellent writing skills.
  • Able to create content from an audience-first perspective.
  • Excellent communication and creative thinking skills.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and be self-motivated.
  • A commitment to high standards of public service.
  • Flexibility and creative problem-solving abilities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A relevant third-level qualification in communications or a related field.
  • The ability to communicate in both written and spoken Irish.
  • Knowledge of the arts and/or public sector.
