Job Title: Naval Service Recruit

Navigate your career in the Naval Service as a General Service Recruit. This role offers diverse opportunities and challenges.

About the Role:

  • This position forms the backbone of the Naval Service, requiring individuals to complete a 12-week training course focused on physical fitness, discipline, and basic military and naval skills.
  • After completion, recruits will advance to Ordinary Rate and begin branch-specific training in one of four areas: Seaman's, Communications, Mechanicians, or Supplies.
  • Upon qualification, they will be promoted to Able Rate and assigned to a Naval Service ship for a two-year sea rotation.
  • Duties include general maintenance, boat operations, firefighting, damage control, and participating in naval boarding teams during drug interdiction operations.

Requirements:

  • No formal education qualifications required.
  • Age: 18–39 years old.
  • Must be an Irish citizen or legally entitled to work in Ireland.
  • Must meet minimum standards of medical and physical fitness.

Benefits:

  • Basic salary: €41,435 with annual increments.
  • Naval Service Allowance: €20,570.
  • Additional allowances for overseas service starting at €15,000.
