Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our energy and utilities design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and relevant design experience.

The successful candidate will work closely with our team to develop innovative solutions for our clients. They will be responsible for designing and managing projects from conceptual phase through to completion, as well as developing preliminary and detailed design calculations, design drawings and specifications, and conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reports.

The role will involve working on a variety of projects, including renewables (biogas, biomass, CHP, solar, hydro, industrial utilities), pipelines and installations (gas, oil, water, or wastewater). The candidate should have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and managing projects from conceptual phase through to completion
  • Developing preliminary and detailed design calculations
  • Developing design drawings and specifications
  • Developing conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reports
  • Balance of plant design
  • Design and implementation of energy saving projects
  • Industrial utilities design, HVAC, steam, refrigeration & compressed air systems
  • Attend and participate in HAZID/ HAZOP and LOPA studies
  • Carry out PSDP role

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Mechanical engineering degree (Honors bachelor's degree or higher), or a similar discipline relevant to the specification above
  • 7+ years post-graduate and relevant design experience. CEng would be beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good academic record
  • Full clean driving license and own transport required
  • Fluent written and spoken English is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
