Job Title: Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

The key objective of this role is to ensure effective management of health, safety, and environmental risks across all services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and review comprehensive safety policies and procedures tailored to housing and homeless services.
  • Provide expert guidance on risk assessment, auditing, and emergency preparedness strategies to management and staff.
  • Conduct thorough audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop targeted mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain governance procedures and ensure compliance with national standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Design and deliver training programs to embed a strong safety culture within the organization.
  • Investigate incidents to determine root causes and coordinate timely responses.

Requirements:

  • QQI Level 8 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, or IOSH-accredited equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in an Occupational Health and Safety Advisor/Officer role, preferably in the non-profit or social sector.
  • Professional membership accreditation in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety management systems, statutory requirements, risk assessment, auditing, and emergency preparedness.
