Structural Design Position

Hays has been retained to recruit a senior structural engineer for an engineering consultancy based just outside of Cork City.

Job Role

This role is situated within the client's design team, where you will work closely with project managers, architects and other engineers to produce structural designs for various sectors. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, analysing and overseeing the construction of structures to ensure they are safe, functional and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Assisting in the production of drawings and reports, preparing and coordinating structural specifications.
  • Attending meetings with architects and contractors to establish their needs.
  • Assisting the project team to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Designing structural engineering solutions under the guidance of senior structural engineers.
  • Applying engineering principles and codes of practice to solve technical problems.

Requirements

Desirable qualifications include chartered engineer status (Engineers Ireland or IStructE) or a commitment to achieving chartered status in the near future.

Other requirements include demonstrated experience in developing structural designs, strong coordination skills, solid technical engineering knowledge and good IT skills.
