Senior Youth Care Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a skilled team delivering a trauma-informed model of care for young people.

Our team fosters positive attachments through relationship building, aiming to provide a therapeutic environment.

As part of our team, you will work with other youth care professionals to deliver holistic, trauma-informed care to young people.

The Senior Youth Care Specialist role involves working with children, household activities, administration, health, safety, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement Care and Placement Plans, ensuring accurate recording.
  2. Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the centre.
  3. Support physical, emotional, social, and religious welfare of each young person in care.
  4. Encourage attendance at school, training centres, medical, and clinical appointments.
  5. Organise personal documents, arrangements, information, and finance on behalf of the young person.
  6. Liaise with parents, families, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person.
  7. Attend meetings regarding the care and developments of the young person.
  8. Engage in age-appropriate play and activities with each child/young person within the centre.
  9. Apply physical intervention and/or restraint in accordance with local policies and procedures.
  10. Prepare and provide well-balanced meals in conjunction with the young people.
  11. Manage various aspects of home life, including household budgeting, upkeep, and cleaning.
  12. Attend team meetings and report to the Manager on matters affecting service delivery.
  13. Be accountable for any money spent.
  14. Provide regular written and verbal reports to the Manager on the young person's progress.
  15. Undertake ongoing professional training and development.
  16. Make decisions when on shift and in the absence of the Deputy Manager or Manager as appropriate, accepting overall responsibility for the residential centre.
  17. Participate in on-call rotations to support the centre.
