Career Opportunity Overview:
A leading building and civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead projects from commencement to completion, ensuring timely delivery while meeting client requirements for specification and quality of finish.
The successful candidate will oversee projects from start to finish, driving high performance through all aspects of the project. They will be responsible for a single contract or several smaller contracts, depending on operational needs.
As the first point of contact for stakeholders during the contract duration, the Project Manager must possess excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing leadership to the project team to drive high performance through all aspects of the project.
- Ensuring adherence to PSCS requirements and maintaining Health & Safety standards on site.
- Understanding and being familiar with contract documents, including drawings, specifications, and BOQ.
- Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Managing client expectations and ensuring they are met.
- Tracking progress and completing contracts on schedule.
- Monitoring Sub-Contractor performance regarding Health and Safety, Quality, Cost, and Programme.
- Liaising with the Quantity Surveyor to manage costs and ensure targets are achieved.
- Maintaining positive communication with the public and regulatory bodies regarding queries/complaints.
- Championing high ISO standards and coordinating site activities according to company systems and procedures.
- Providing regular accurate reporting to the Construction Director, advising of progress on site and issues affecting targets and objectives.
- Identifying areas for improvement in the Company's processes.
- Managing the Design Team, critiquing and challenging design while ensuring information is available for procurement as required.
- Managing and organizing the Site Team, ensuring clear programme and quality targets are communicated and delivered.
- Committing to maximising value for the client and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Working proactively with the Commercial team to manage costs and ensure targets are achieved.
- Planning for purchasing and sub-contractor appointments.
- Attending and chairing effective management team meetings.
- Representing the organisation at client/consultant progress meetings, preparing and responding to the requirements of the meetings.
- Managing an effective process to ensure the as-built document process and handover file and BCAR is delivered on time.
- Supporting and advising the Project QS/QS in the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
Key Skills and Qualifications Include:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant field.
- Life Science / Industrial experience is desirable but not essential.
- Relevant Third level Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Strong commercial acumen, with a good knowledge of current technical building regulations.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Proactive, with strong problem-solving ability.
- Straight talking and takes responsibility.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate.
- Excellent IT Skills, proficient in MS Office and the use of MS Project and other PM planning tools.
