Fleet Maintenance Engineer Job Description

As a Fleet Maintenance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company's fleet is well-maintained and operates efficiently. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement strategies to meet customer expectations, reduce costs of repair, and maintain compliance with statutory and legislative requirements.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive Fleet Management services to Site Management
  • Manage contractors for work quality and cost effectiveness
  • Assist in formulating annual budgets
  • Monitor industry standards and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Influence depot personnel to improve fleet efficiency
  • Control maintenance and repair procedures and practices
  • Maintain Health and Safety policies covering equipment use
  • Advising and auditing Site Control procedures for safe and legal operation
  • Advise and support sites in accident repairs to meet insurer requirements
  • Ensure O license compliance
  • Schedule equipment for service or repairs
  • Control daily availability of equipment
  • Control maintenance invoices and purchase orders
  • Communicate with suppliers to minimise downtime

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in fleet supervisory/management
  • Calm under pressure with good planning and organisational skills
  • Strong H&S awareness and passion to improve performance
  • Track record of meeting service and cost commitments
  • Innovative approach with ability to think outside the box
  • A team player and team builder
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to set and deliver against challenging targets and budgets
  • Experience in unionised environments
  • Flexible working hours to meet business needs
