Job Description
This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a passionate individual to develop their career with a leading Irish organization. As the Ingredients Health & Safety Officer, you will play a crucial part in engaging and focusing the site on health and safety, protecting our people and those affected by our activities from harm.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Implementing, improving, and enhancing the site's safety management system.
- Supporting and advising managers to ensure legislative compliance and improve health and safety in the business.
- Conducting and attending regular meetings with plant managers and supervisors.
- Supporting managers in performing risk assessments and implementing corrective actions and continuous improvements.
- Ensuring all accidents and near misses are fully reported and investigated.
- Reviewing, developing, and implementing health and safety procedures, policies, work instructions, checklists, and other documentation as required.
- Identifying training needs and assisting in the management of training records.
- Liaising and coordinating with external consultants.
- Couching employees on positive health and safety practices.
- Carrying out emergency plans and fire drills.
- Supporting the Contractor Management System.
- Supporting the preparation of health and safety reports for the business.
- Monitoring and populating Health and Safety Metrics for the business.
- Attending monthly safety committee meetings and recording associated meeting minutes for each division.
- Assisting in the coordination and ordering of Health and Safety related materials.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A relevant third-level Certificate qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or food production company (desirable).
- Thorough knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
- Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and online management systems.
- Ability to work on your own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly organized, motivated, and driven.
- Train the Trainer, Manual Handling, or other Instructor qualifications (desirable but not essential).
