Research Scientist - Wireless Communication Systems

This is a research-focused position that requires expertise in wireless communication systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing algorithms to detect, classify, and localize wireless communications signals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop signal processing algorithms using programming languages such as C++, Python, and MATLAB.
  • Implement and validate algorithms on programmable software-defined radios and test them in real-world trials involving ground transmitters and UAVs.
  • Disseminate research findings through publications in leading journals and presentations at conferences.
  • Secure funding from Irish and European government agencies and industry partners.
  • Participate in developing future research initiatives within the group.
  • Mentor junior staff and students within the group.
  • Engage in education and public engagement activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Computer Science, Wireless Communications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Good knowledge of cellular communication systems at the physical (PHY) and MAC layers.
  • Proficiency in mathematical modeling tools such as C++/Python/MATLAB/Julia.
  • Publishing record in IEEE or ACM journals and conference publications.
