Job Description

About the Role:

The Chief Officer Research, Innovation is a key member of the University Senior Leadership Team responsible for leading and coordinating research, innovation, enterprise, and community engagement. The successful appointee will drive external stakeholder relationships, strengthen ties with funding agencies, and oversee the creation of infrastructure to support ATU's research and innovation goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans for research and innovation.
  • Collaborate with deans of faculties and other leaders to promote a strong, outward-facing research and innovation culture.
  • Build and maintain partnerships at regional, national, and global levels.
  • Oversee the creation of required infrastructure to support research and innovation goals.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be an experienced strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a demonstrable research profile and reputation. They will bring extensive experience in strategy development and implementation alongside research management, innovation, or related roles within higher education, public, private, or non-profit sectors.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience of managing financial and physical resources.
  • Able to lead and motivate both academic and professional services staff.
  • Experience of promoting equality and inclusion within an organisation.
