Job Title: Occupational Health Nurse Specialist

The position of Occupational Health Clinical Nurse Manager is a pivotal role in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of staff within an organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To prevent workplace incidents and assess employees who become unwell or injured while on duty.
  • Actively promote health and wellbeing initiatives in the workplace.
  • Provide timely and quality care for staff affected by workplace injuries or illnesses.
  • Proactively manage occupational hazards through risk assessments.
  • Develop strategies to support employees returning to work after illness or injury.
  • Train staff members and managers on supporting employee health and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and evaluation of health & safety procedures, emergency protocols, and policies to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.

  • Observe and report matters detrimental to staff wellbeing.
  • Assist in implementing and adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate completion of incident/near miss forms and clinical risk reporting.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • At least 5 years post registration experience.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a management role, ideally in occupational health.

Professional Knowledge:

  • Experience of case management and condition management programmes.
  • Knowledge of health promotion in work settings.
  • Understanding of infection control issues.
  • Manual handling risk management expertise.
  • Stress management skills.
  • Occupational health provision experience in healthcare settings.

This position requires a professional with exceptional leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of occupational health principles and practices.
