
Fellowship Opportunities In Cognitive Disorder Care

The post relates to a registrar and structured fellowship in cognitive disorders within a specialist memory clinic. The role requires participation in the assessment and management of individuals with symptoms suggestive of young onset dementia and cognitive impairment.
- Participate in timely biomarker-based diagnosis of dementia, including running a lumbar puncture clinic.
- Support primary care to manage patients once a diagnosis is made.
- Engage in research being conducted within the unit, including clinical drug trials and grant applications.
- Fulfill key performance indicators for the National Dementia Office.
Care for patients in the community, improving patient outcomes as per Slintecare. Create an integrated memory service that enhances care for patients with neurocognitive disorders.
Eligibility Criteria- Basic Specialty Training in General Medicine completed.
- Clinical experience in a specialty aligned with neurocognitive disorders (i.e., Neurology/Geriatric Medicine).
- Masters degree aligned with neurocognitive disorders desirable.
- Possession of MRCP/MRCPI.
Based at Mercy University Hospital Cork, covering the Regional Specialist Memory Clinic between working hours Monday to Friday.
Requirements- Demonstrable commitment to medicine.
- Good decision making.
- Broad clinical knowledge base.
- Appropriate clinical skills, including proficiency with lumbar puncture.
- Awareness of patient safety and risk management issues.
Hold General Registration or Trainee Specialist Division Registration with the Irish Medical Council.
