Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Principal Water Resources Engineer. As a key member of our water resources department, you will play a crucial role in delivering consulting services to internal and external clients.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical expertise in conceptual model development, hydraulics, engineering design, hydrology, mine water management, stormwater management, water balance assessment, dam break assessment, flood-modelling and flood risk assessment, water quality assessments and water conservation & demand management.

You will work closely with colleagues to direct and review water resource aspects of various international mining and water resource projects. This includes environmental assessments, environmental permitting, and engineering design projects.

One of the key responsibilities of this role is to assist with developing projects and services that support climate change reporting, resilience and adaptation, including nature-based solutions.

Additionally, you will be responsible for project coordination, managing and participating actively in the development of budgets, schedules and plans for projects and proposals.

In this role, you will also mentor junior staff within the Mine Water team to support their career development, technical excellence and commercial awareness.

The job requires frequent travel and site work, both locally and internationally. You will be part of multidisciplinary project teams working on local, regional and international consulting projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and WSP's standards.

Finally, you will display a safety-first attitude in line with an interdependent health and safety culture, promoting positive health and safety, raising safety issues through the appropriate channels and adhering to WSP's health and safety policy and procedures.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, hydrology or a related field / postgraduate qualification in engineering or environmental management.
  • Previous demonstrable experience conducting hydrologic and hydraulic assessments and design of water management infrastructure.
  • Technical report writing skills and ability to guide / peer review contributions.
  • Experience of project management or coordination and financial tracking skills.
