**Job Summary:**

We are seeking an accomplished Principal Researcher to lead advanced electron microscopy characterisation of complex materials for semiconductor applications. The role involves supporting high-resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) facilities and procurement of TEM infrastructure.

  • Provide leadership in the operation of TEM facilities to multiple research teams.
  • Manage atomic resolution TEM and EELS characterisation of multiferroic thin films.
  • Head correlative TEM and APT of MoS2 thin films and metal contact interfaces.
  • Lead work on in-situ heating and biasing of multiferroic and TMDC thin films.
  • Lead magnetic domain mapping by Lorentz STEM of ferromagnetic thin films.
  • Develop and manage international collaborations using microscopy infrastructure.
  • Contribute to funding proposals in relevant technology domains.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in complex materials, HR-TEM, and other relevant characterisation approaches, with demonstrated ability to publish high-quality peer-reviewed journal articles, secure independent funding, supervise team members, and manage large-scale research projects.

About the Role:

  • This is a full-time equivalent position, approximately 2 years duration.
  • The role involves leading research activities, managing TEM facilities, and procuring TEM infrastructure.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Support the operation of high-resolution TEM facilities.
  • Procure TEM infrastructure to support research activities.

Requirements:

  • MSc/PhD in Materials Science, Physics or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in HR-TEM, EELS, and other relevant characterisation techniques.
  • Strong publication record in high-quality peer-reviewed journals.
  • Able to secure independent funding for research projects.
  • Skill to supervise team members and manage large-scale research projects.
