As a Senior Research Scientist in Electron Microscopy, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of complex materials.

About the Role
  • We are seeking an exceptional researcher to lead activities on Advanced Electron Microscopy Characterisation of complex materials for semiconductor applications.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing the operation of our high-resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) facilities and procuring TEM infrastructure as needed.
Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide expert leadership in the operation of our TEM facilities to multiple research teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and efficient workflow.
  2. Lead atomic resolution TEM and EELS characterisation of multiferroic thin films, developing innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  3. Head correlative TEM and APT of MoS2 thin films and metal contact interfaces, driving cutting-edge research in these areas.
  4. Lead work on in-situ heating and biasing of multiferroic and TMDC thin films, expanding our knowledge in these fields.
  5. Develop and manage international collaborations using our microscopy infrastructure, fostering global partnerships and advancing our research agenda.
  6. Pursue funding opportunities in relevant technology domains, contributing to the development of strategic proposals.
  7. Support and provide leadership in microscopy to researchers working in target domains, promoting expertise and excellence across the team.
  8. Engage with Business Development, Commercial and Innovation to identify opportunities for industry engagement and intellectual property development.
  9. Promote our organisation and the microscopy facility at various events, showcasing our capabilities and achievements.
  10. Participate in and support mentoring activities within the group, nurturing the growth and development of our researchers.
  11. Engage with education and public engagement activities aimed at a broad audience, sharing our knowledge and passion with the wider community.
  12. E nsure all activities are compliant with our Quality Management system and Health and Safety standards.
