Major Energy Project Engineer Role
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Major Energy Project Engineer to oversee the technical aspects of our East Cork energy project. This is a permanent position with a well-established contractor that delivers large-scale civil and utility projects across Ireland.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the engineering and technical elements of the project, ensuring high standards of delivery, compliance, and documentation. The position requires strong civil engineering expertise, with proven experience in structural steel and civil works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage civil and structural elements of the project from design through to completion.
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with project specifications, safety standards, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to drive successful delivery.
  • Lead documentation control including method statements, risk assessments, technical submittals, and QA/QC records.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and reporting to ensure programme milestones are achieved.
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and resolve technical challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement across project delivery.
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in civil engineering, with exposure to large-scale infrastructure or utilities projects.
  • Strong background in structural steel and civil works.
  • Excellent technical knowledge with ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Proven track record in managing project documentation and quality assurance.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
