Job Description:

  • In close collaboration with the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager and HSE Team, the HSE Engineer will ensure that the plant's HSE management system is developed, implemented and maintained to achieve a safe workplace through effectively functioning processes, procedures, practices and equipment.
  • This involves developing, implementing and ensuring compliance with site HSE management system programs such as contractor control, hazardous work and permit to work program, chemical safety program, personal protective equipment (PPE), electrical safety and fire safety programs etc.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, promote and maintain a strong proactive health & safety culture on site.
  2. Maintain effective training programs and deliver training on HSE matters on site.
  3. Manage the facility's internal audits and inspection program and track action item completion.
  4. Generate reports on HSE data, analyze trends, and lead HSE initiatives.
  5. Monitor legal compliance and establish effective procedures to address any weaknesses promptly.
  6. Conduct HSE compliance assessments in the plant.
  7. Assist in ensuring HSE action tracking and management across all functions of the organization.
  8. Coordinate and lead task, area and equipment related health and safety risk assessments.
  9. Support the development and maintenance of a comprehensive HSE management system (according ISO 45001).
  10. Evaluate incident investigations and corrective actions to ensure they are tracked to closure.
  11. Conduct manual handling and ergonomic assessments.
  12. Conduct assessments of compliance on batch records and other manufacturing related documentation.
  13. Support maintenance of the site's Emergency Response Team and Emergency Response Plan, addressing the site's obligations as an Upper Tier Seveso Site.
  14. Ensure continuous improvement in HSE training programme effectiveness, developing and delivering HSE training modules and briefings.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time based on company needs.
  16. Serve as HSE Manager deputy.

Requirements:

  • A primary degree in Engineering or Science specializing in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years experience working in an Occupational Health and Safety role within bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing, oil & gas or chemicals industry environment is highly desirable.
  • Mature EHS leader with previous experience of a Seveso site, IED Licence / ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 & GMP manufacturing is an advantage.
  • Internal auditor experience and manual handling trainer qualifications, VDU assessor qualification is desirable.
  • Highly organized and capable of working on own initiative.
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to conduct independent internal audits and inspections.
  • Strong analytical and engineering skills.
  • Good influencing and training skills.
  • Excellent report compiling and writing skills.
  • Mindset of continuous improvement and accountability for HSE System implementation at site
