Job Title: Assistant Director of Financial Management
Job Description:
The role of Assistant Director of Financial Management is to lead the development of a comprehensive financial strategy and associated plans. This includes producing a financial strategy, developing financial plans, and ensuring compliance with statutory duties.
The post holder will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in financial management, ensuring robust controls, devolved budgetary processes, accurate reporting, and compliance with statutory duties. They will also manage the Trust's financial planning and performance framework, including costing models, benchmarking, value-for-money programmes, and business case appraisals.
The successful candidate will have a strong background and experience in accounting, with at least 3 years of post qualification experience in a senior position. They will hold a valid driver's license and possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership in financial management, ensuring robust controls, devolved budgetary processes, accurate reporting, and compliance with statutory duties.
- Lead the development of recovery, contingency, and efficiency plans, identifying financial risks early and ensuring corrective action where necessary.
- Manage the Trust's financial planning and performance framework, including costing models, benchmarking, value-for-money programmes, and business case appraisals.
- Oversee capital investment processes, ensuring accurate assessment of revenue implications and engagement with commissioners and relevant authorities.
- Deliver expert financial advice to support the Trust's corporate and delivery plans, contributing to strategic decision-making as a senior management team member.
- Provide effective people management, fostering team development, ensuring clear communication, supporting industrial relations, and delivering finance training across the Trust.
- Uphold all statutory, regulatory, and Trust-wide responsibilities, including equality, health and safety, information governance, and continuous professional development.
Requirements:
- Full member of an accounting institute.
- Post qualification experience, with at least 3 years in a senior position.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
