Underwriting Leadership Opportunity

This role presents a chance for an experienced underwriter to take charge of complex and high-value risks in a dynamic environment.


About the Position
  • Lead on underwriting Liability risks, collaborating closely with brokers and internal teams to deliver tailored insurance solutions.
  • Promote risk appetite to the broker market through effective communication.
  • Work together with other underwriting teams to identify and convert new business opportunities.
  • Evaluate submissions with speed and accuracy, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines.
  • Negotiate deals to meet client needs while maintaining underwriting integrity.
  • Develop strong relationships with brokers and clients to grow a profitable book of business.
  • Create and execute business plans aligned with the company's underwriting strategy.
  • Ensure risk selection aligns with product guidelines, meeting targets for rate, renewal retention, and new business growth.
  • Achieve targets for new business, renewal, and rate.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior underwriters.
  • Manage file quality and accurate use of rating tools.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the underwriting process.

Key Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Liability underwriting within an insurer, MGA, or broker environment.
  • Experience with large corporate risks, including Captives or Self-Insured Retention accounts.
  • Strong market-facing skills with proven ability to build and maintain broker relationships.
  • Commercial awareness and negotiation ability across pricing, terms, and structure.
  • Motivated individual with solutions-focused mindset and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving market, working cross-functionally to deliver outcomes.
  • Proficient in underwriting tools and Microsoft Office applications.
