Clinical Nurse Manager I: Mental Health

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Manager I to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality nursing care in a mental health setting.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, caring, and treating service users to ensure the highest standard of nursing care is provided.
  • They will also support the nursing team, promote the development of nursing staff through in-service training, orientation of new staff, and arranging clinical experience and supervision of nurses as required.
  • This role plays a pivotal part in the multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • The Clinical Nurse Manager I will assume responsibility for the efficient day-to-day management of the ward, subject to overall supervision and direction of CNM II and Assistant Director of Nursing.
  • They will provide supervision for all staff, ensuring awareness of policies and procedures to be followed.
  • The successful candidate will identify training needs of directly managed staff and provide guidance and support as appropriate.
  • They will encourage evidence-based practice using a care planning approach to nursing care.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and monitor and evaluate care given.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements affecting patients, staff, and other Hospital matters including up-to-date mental health legislation.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registered Psychiatric Nurse with The Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register with NMBI.
  • 3 years post-registration experience in acute hospital setting or relevant clinical area within last 5 years.
  • Demonstrate management/in-charge experience within last year.
  • Excellent keyboard skills.
  • Experience in teaching and assessing nursing and Health Care Assistant team.
  • Knowledge and ability to ensure compliance with legal requirements of Mental Health Act 2001.
