Health Safety Specialist

Job Description

The role of a Health and Safety Specialist is vital in ensuring the overall health and wellbeing of employees on construction sites. This involves developing, monitoring and implementing effective health and safety management systems to ensure compliance with relevant statutory provisions.

This position requires the candidate to have expertise in developing and implementing health and safety policies, procedures and management systems. Additionally, they must provide guidance and advice to management, safety representatives and employees on health and safety matters.

The ideal candidate should be able to identify potential hazards and take corrective measures to prevent accidents. They must also conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure that all necessary health and safety protocols are being followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures and management systems.
  • Provide guidance and advice to management, safety representatives and employees on health and safety matters.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Identify potential hazards and take corrective measures to prevent accidents.
  • Maintain accurate records of health and safety incidents and near misses.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field.
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
