High-Voltage Electrical Engineering Specialist

We seek an experienced specialist to lead high-voltage electrical engineering projects.


About the Role

This position involves designing and delivering high-voltage electrical systems for various clients, with a focus on substations and transmission networks.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop primary plant layouts for high-voltage substations
  • Review detailed designs to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Assess HV equipment procurement specifications and technical schedules
  • Develop commissioning instructions and review as-built documentation
  • Conduct design reviews and construction monitoring
  • Respond to complex client queries related to technical design standards
  • Provide expertise on HV cables, stations, and OHL for client projects
  • Prepare equipment specifications for HV plant and ancillary equipment
  • Cross-functional collaboration with project teams and internal disciplines

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
  • Experience with Irish transmission operators such as Eirgrid and ESB
  • Design and delivery experience of high-voltage substations (33kV, 110kV, 400kV)
  • Site construction and commissioning experience preferred
  • Development of specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations
  • Experience across all project lifecycle stages
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards for HV systems
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in power industry operations or maintenance
