Advanced Packaging Specialist Role

The Photonics Packaging Group invites applications for the position of Advanced Packaging Specialist in Simulation and Design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish simulation and design capabilities for advanced photonic and electronic packages and subsystems.
  • Develop comprehensive multi-physics models combining optical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical domains.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art software tools, AI, and machine learning processes to transition design concepts to fully packaged prototypes.
  • Create packaging design rules and Assembly Design Kits enabling user access to standardized packaging processes and technologies.
  • Support development of packaging cost models providing valuable data on choice of materials and process steps for production processes.
  • Lead technology development efforts while managing research projects, supervising early-career researchers, and collaborating with academic stakeholders.

The selected candidate will possess a strong background in photonics, electronics, and simulation design, with experience using state-of-the-art software tools and AI/ML processes. They will also have proven ability to manage large-scale research projects, collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams, and demonstrate success in winning competitive project funding calls.
