**Job Role Summary:**

The Head of Europe Recovery and Resolution Planning is a strategic leadership role responsible for preparing and responding to financial distress. The primary goal is to develop and implement effective recovery and resolution plans, assess the financial viability of distressed entities, and advise on potential resolution strategies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Developing and evaluating potential resolution strategies for distressed entities, analyzing the financial implications and potential impacts of each strategy.
  • Developing and maintaining recovery and resolution plans for business units and entities, assessing critical functions and dependencies to ensure continuity of essential services during distress.
  • Analyzing financial data and assessing the viability of distressed entities to evaluate financial strength, capital position, and liquidity risks.
  • Overseeing crisis management frameworks and maintaining recovery plans for the organization.
  • Maintaining resolution capabilities across the Group; coordinating and delivering regulatory and public disclosures.
  • Ensuring appropriate controls, governance, and assurance processes to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining valuation capabilities, including models, methodologies, processes, and documentation, with procedures to onboard external valuers if necessary.
  • Conducting holistic testing of resolvability capabilities across multiple workstreams with Boards and senior executives.
  • Supporting stakeholders in meeting global regulatory requirements.
  • Communicating with regulators regarding the bank's recovery and resolution activities.

Director Expectations:

  • Managing a function, contributing to strategic initiatives, and influencing policy and procedures.
  • Leading teams or sub-functions, embedding a performance culture, and coaching less experienced staff.
  • Providing expert advice to senior management and committees to influence decisions.
  • Managing resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for significant sub-functions.
  • Ensuring compliance and regulatory adherence.
  • Monitoring and influencing external environment, regulators, and advocacy groups.
  • Demonstrating extensive knowledge of the function's integration with the business and industry practices.
  • Using advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
  • Making strategic decisions and influencing stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Acting as a principal contact and spokesperson for the function.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Extensive experience in recovery and resolution planning, preferably within a financial institution.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to embed a performance culture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with regulators and stakeholders.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically, with a focus on solving complex problems.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, with the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
