">Nursing Home Manager OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Nursing Home Manager to join our team in a 51-bed nursing home based in Carna, Co. Galway.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will support the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the nursing home, ensuring a high standard of evidence-based care in line with HIQA standards, company policies, and national standards.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the DON in leading and supervising the delivery of person-centred, evidence-based nursing care.
- Monitor and evaluate clinical practices to ensure they meet current HIQA standards.
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Oversee infection prevention and control measures in line with updated HIQA guidance.
- Prepare for, respond to, and follow up on HIQA inspections and audits.
- Maintain and update required documentation, including risk registers, incident logs, care plans, and audit results.
- Supervise, mentor, and support nursing and care staff, promoting continuous professional development.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, rostering, and performance appraisals.
- Facilitate regular team meetings, clinical supervision, and reflective practice sessions.
- Promote dignity, autonomy, and choice for all residents in a safe, inclusive environment.
- Act as a key point of contact for residents and families, handling concerns or complaints professionally and in line with policy.
- Assist the DON in strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and policy development.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the development of the annual Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
- Deputise for the DON as required.
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active registration required.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in nursing management/nursing home or similar aged care setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIQA, national standards, and relevant legislation.
- Leadership training and/or management qualification desirable.
- Postgraduate qualification in nursing leadership desired.
