Job Description

The Homeless Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team to provide high-quality services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The manager will work closely with the Head of Homeless Services to ensure that the service operates in accordance with national quality standards and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and management of the Fairgreen Hostel Team
  • Recruitment, induction, and support of staff
  • Line management, supervision, and development of staff
  • Implementation of Trauma Informed Practice
  • Modeling leadership behaviors and embedding a positive values-led culture
  • Development and implementation of reflective practice
  • Proactive approach to working with people at risk of or experiencing homelessness
  • Service development and improvement

Service Management:

  • Day-to-day operations of the service
  • Administrative and financial procedures
  • Development and operation of administration and recording systems
  • Use of database systems, including PASS
  • Incident, emergency, event, and handover recording
  • Maintenance and upkeep of facilities
  • Client consultation and involvement
  • Working in line with NQSF and organizational policies

Client Services:

  • Safe, welcoming, and friendly environment establishment and maintenance
  • Proactive and flexible approach to client engagement
  • Professional, sensitive, and appropriate assessments
  • Referral process oversight
  • Care and case management focused on assisting clients to exit emergency accommodation and homelessness
  • Support for challenging client behaviors using Trauma Informed Practice principles
  • Key working process supporting clients accessing local services
  • Addressing difficult situations sensitively and directly

Interagency:

  • Effective collaboration with Galway City and County Councils and the HSE
  • Communication and respect with colleagues and clients
  • Positive and mutually beneficial relationships with external agencies
  • Fostering positive relations with the local community and reporting on work and activities to funders

Health and Safety:

  • Health and safety standards maintenance and adherence
  • Domestic, health, and hygiene standards maintenance
  • Health and safety culture fostering

General:

  • Positive and effective teamwork and organization membership
  • Supervision and annual appraisal participation
  • Job-related training needs assistance
  • Continued learning and development through training and workshops
