We are seeking a skilled Activities Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about creating engaging experiences for residents in a nursing home setting.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programs for resident activities. This will involve working with residents to identify their interests and needs, and developing activities that promote social interaction, reality orientation and intellectual stimulation.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Planning, scheduling, implementing and evaluating a program of individual and/or group activities based on the residents' needs.
  • Coordinating and participating in resident activities designed to promote social interaction, reality orientation and intellectual stimulation.
  • Providing residents who are confined or choose to remain in their rooms with in-room activities in keeping with lifelong interests.
  • Completing the activity assessment and care plan documentation following the gathering of information to reflect the individual resident's functional level, problems, needs and interests.
  • Documenting activity related information on the residents' charts. Reviews staff's chart entries for completeness.
  • Developing a monthly calendar of planned activities.
  • Developing and reviewing continuous quality improvement plans for the Activity Programme.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of residents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families and staff.
  • Proven experience in a similar role or relevant sector.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
