Electrical Assembly Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Assembly Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical assembly and automation, with a strong background in industrial and commercial electrical systems.

  • Installation of electrical components and wiring in accordance with schematic diagrams.
  • Preparation and assembly of cable and pipeways, bracketing and support systems.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing electrical components and wiring in accordance with schematic diagrams, as well as preparing and assembling cable and pipeways, bracketing and support systems.

  • Installation of electrical components and wiring in accordance with schematic diagrams.
  • Installation of pneumatic components, pipework, and equipment in accordance with pneumatics diagrams.
  • Preparation and assembly of cable and pipeways, bracketing and support systems.
  • Connection of electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components.
  • Carrying out pre-commissioning checks and testing.
  • Preventative maintenance of systems by routine inspection.
  • Performing effective diagnostics to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or replace damaged components.
  • Undertake installations at customer premises.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Installing electrical components and wiring in accordance with schematic diagrams.
  • Installing pneumatic components, pipework, and equipment in accordance with pneumatics diagrams.
  • Preparing and assembling cable and pipeways, bracketing and support systems.
  • Connecting electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components.
  • Carrying out pre-commissioning checks and testing.
  • Performing preventative maintenance of systems by routine inspection.
  • Identifying hazards or malfunctions and repairing or replacing damaged components.
  • Undertaking installations at customer premises.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an electrical fitter.
  • Proven experience wiring control panels, PLC, Servo/Stepper motors and controls.
  • Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems/automation and controls.
  • Ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter).
  • Ability to follow and understand electrical and pneumatic schematic diagrams and drawings.
  • Ability to guide Junior Electrical Assembly Technicians on their day-to-day tasks.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and applicable regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Good health, physically mobile, able to work in a variety of industrial environments.
  • Relevant vocational training or completion of an apprenticeship as an electrician.
