Job Opportunity

Fehily Timoney and Company is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Sustainable Infrastructure team as an Associate Director for Highways and Active Travel.

This is an ideal role for experienced individuals with a strong background in project management, team leadership, and technical expertise in highways and active travel schemes.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary design teams, managing project portfolios, mentoring junior staff, and overseeing design work. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Manage project portfolios, including client relationships and communications
  • Mentor and manage junior staff
  • Supervise and guide team members
  • Oversee design work in collaboration with discipline leads and technicians
  • Prepare technical reports and tender documentation
  • Coordinate with project members and the wider infrastructure team
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance procedures and health and safety legislation

Requirements:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with Chartered Engineer status
  • A minimum of 15 years post-graduate experience in highway and active travel scheme design and project management
  • Experience in delivery of design and build projects is desirable
  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Strong experience in liaising with clients, external stakeholders, and sub-consultants
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage project budgets
  • Energetic, self-motivated professional with excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Adaptable and collaborative team player
  • Capable of working independently and efficiently under minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings as required
  • Possession of a full, valid driver's license
