Key Responsibilities

This role involves working on the design and delivery of bridges and multidisciplinary projects. You will be supported by a team in Ireland and the UK.

  • Work with existing and new bridge structures across various materials and forms, including superstructure, substructure, and articulation elements.
  • Participate in early project stages, including scoping, surveys, inspection, investigative works, optioneering, and scheme design.
  • Undertake detailed design work, including modeling, calculations, and drawing production oversight.
  • Prepare documents, such as technical reports, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Conduct independent design checking and provide construction stage support.
  • Interface with clients from local and national authorities, consultants, and design-build contractors.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years' relevant professional experience in bridges design within the civil or structural engineering sector.
  • Hold or will shortly achieve CEng with Engineers Ireland, ICE, IStructE, or equivalent.
  • Good technical knowledge and understanding of bridges.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in written and in-person interaction with external parties.
  • Good knowledge of structural analysis software, including finite element analysis.
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment with tight deadlines.
  • Fluent or highly proficient in spoken and written English.

Desirable Skills:

  • Multidisciplinary consultancy or contracting experience from allied civil engineering disciplines, such as highways, structures, geotechnics, rail, or water.
