Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist

The role of the Quality Assurance Specialist is to ensure that the company's quality management systems are implemented effectively.

This includes planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing the measurement, monitoring, and reporting of qualitative and regulatory aspects of pet food production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage issues impacting food safety, quality, and legality across all areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and implement measures to improve quality, including visual, physical, functional, or other appropriate tests.
  • Maintain and ensure the implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Management System for all areas of responsibility.
  • Analyse and report on quality control test results to ensure production remains within specifications.
  • Supervise daily online QMS system checks and procedures conducted by operations team members.
  • Examine current operating procedures to determine how quality can be improved.
  • Complete and log all CCP and PC checks by operations team members, addressing any out-of-limits/parameters.
  • Verify CCP/PC checks, monitor equipment calibration schedules, and conduct customer complaint investigations.
  • Prepare and complete export loads as requested, considering legislation impact on specification requirements.
  • Examine current operating procedures to ensure processes meet regulatory standards and implement changes necessary for compliance.
  • Implement non-conformance reporting and corrective actions.
  • Provide on-the-floor personal hygiene training, QC skills training, and relevant food safety and CCP/PC training for operators.
  • Monitor product date coding for compliance with prescribed shelf-life and customer-specific shelf life.
  • Conduct internal audits as requested and maintain full product traceability at all stages of the process.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the Quality Manager in closing non-conformances, escalating concerns, and attending meetings as requested.
