Job Summary
This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of Gaelic Games in a high-performance environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the technical, physical, psychological, and tactical demands associated with Gaelic Games.
The role requires a strong leader who can inspire and motivate teams to achieve excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the healthy and holistic player development, monitoring players' game and training load, and gathering player injury data.
The position involves collaborating with key stakeholders, including coaching and games development committees at county level, national GAA, province, clubs, schools, third-level institutions, and other relevant partners. The candidate should possess excellent communication and administrative skills, as well as a passion for Gaelic Games and an understanding of the structures and culture of the GAA.
About the Role
This leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to improve the quality, coherence, and consistency of player and coach development in the county. The ideal candidate will work closely with the County Head of Games and the County Coaching and Games Committee to ensure alignment with national objectives and policies.
The role involves:
- Developing and implementing a multi-annual games development plan aligned to national objectives
- Leading a team of coach developers and supporting their transition through the pathway
- Recruiting and supporting coaches to deliver the coach pathway within the county for talent and elite pathways
- Overseeing the implementation of the games development plan, ensuring adherence to policy and national reporting requirements
- Monitoring training loads of players across all levels and submitting quarterly reports
About You
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong background in Exercise and Sports Science, Human Movement, Physical Education, or related areas. A minimum Award 1 Coach Development qualification is required, along with demonstrated leadership experience in sport, managerial, organisational, communication, and administrative skills.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge around player profiling and screening of athletic qualities, as well as a passion for Gaelic Games and an understanding of the structures and culture of the GAA. High-level self-awareness and a strong self-starter with a demonstrable ability to act on own initiative are also essential.
