Patients admitted to the oncology service will be assigned a consultant who is available 24/7. The registrar will assume responsibility for patients from the previous shift, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
Daily Rounds:
A comprehensive morning round will be conducted on all oncology patients, including daily decision-making responsibilities and medical note writing. This approach ensures a consultative message with a clear plan for the next 24 hours.
Critical Situations:
The registrar will respond promptly to any unexpected events, such as injuries, falls, or sudden illnesses affecting patients, visitors, or staff.
Professional Development:
The Cancer Care Registrar will contribute to quality improvement initiatives, risk management efforts, and policy formulation to maintain the highest standards of care and reflect best practices.
Educational Opportunities:
The registrar will participate in tutorials and teaching sessions to enhance the skills of colleagues, medical students, and staff in cancer care.
Requirements:
We are looking for an individual with
- Fully registered with the Irish Medical Council.
- Membership in a relevant college is desirable.
- Experience as a Registrar in an acute hospital setting.
- Current BCLS certification is essential; ACLS is preferred.
- A strong interest in Oncology Medicine and patient care in this area.
