
Dynamic Acute Care Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking physiotherapist to join our acute hospital team. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals who thrive in multidisciplinary environments and have a passion for working in acute care.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the assessment, treatment, and discharge planning of patients across various acute inpatient wards, including medical, surgical, orthopaedics, and rehabilitation. Their duties will involve conducting thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patients, developing and implementing individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans based on patient-specific goals, and delivering evidence-based physiotherapy interventions.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills and experience managing a varied caseload of acute adult patients. They will also possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills, as well as strong documentation and clinical reasoning abilities. The selected individual will be required to participate in weekend/bank holiday rotas and contribute to a team-based approach.
Key Responsibilities:- Conducting thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patients using appropriate outcome measures and clinical reasoning
- Developing and implementing individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans based on patient-specific goals
- Delivering evidence-based physiotherapy interventions, including mobilisation and rehabilitation post-surgery, neurological rehabilitation, functional and strength-based rehab for frailty, deconditioning, or long-term conditions
- Independently managing a varied caseload across acute medical, surgical, orthopaedics, neurology, ICU, or care of the elderly
- Prioritising patients effectively based on clinical urgency and ward demands
- Participating in rapid discharge pathways, early supported discharge, and weekend planning
- Actively participating in daily ward rounds, MDT case reviews, and discharge planning meetings
- Collaborating with consultants, nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, and discharge coordinators to ensure safe and timely discharges
- BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent
- Current CORU registration as a Physiotherapist
- A minimum of 6 months inpatient experience within an Irish hospital setting (or a similar acute hospital abroad with transferable experience)
- Confidence managing a varied caseload of acute adult patients
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-based approach
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills
- Strong documentation and clinical reasoning abilities
- Willingness to participate in weekend/bank holiday rotas
