Senior Manufacturing Specialist

This role focuses on leading multiple engineering competencies, including lean six sigma, manufacturing, and automation. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance across the facility, leveraging their broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to deliver complex assignments.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Management of significant engineering projects through project management offices.
  • Ensuring quality of process and product as defined in appropriate operating systems and material specifications.
  • Ownership of first-pass yield and material review board processes.
  • Continuously improving process performance.
  • Optimizing current floor space.
  • Providing support to process development/advanced operations on technology development and application within the manufacturing process.
  • Engaging in the implementation of lean manufacture within manufacturing.
  • Supporting process development and cost reduction activities within business units.
  • Communicating and participating in system and process troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate will possess a level 8 honors degree in mechanical engineering and 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, they should have proven project management skills, strong communication and influencing abilities, and the capacity to provide technical leadership and direction to engineers, technicians, and operators.

To excel in this role, the candidate must be able to work effectively in a dynamic and results-driven environment, demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be willing to source, investigate, and implement technological and automation advances.

Requirements:

  • Level 8 Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 4+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven Project Management skills through the delivery of business-critical projects.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external agents.
  • Capable of providing technical leadership and, influencing and providing technical direction to Engineers, Coop Students, Technicians and Operators as required.
  • Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined team in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivated environment.
  • Demonstrable strong analytical & problem solving skills, a process improvement orientation, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technological expert, willing to source, investigate and implement technological and automation advances.
  • Confident and effective decision maker, with a proven technical leadership ability to negotiate and influence others.
