Are you passionate about supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities? We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Facilitator to join our team in Athlone/Roscommon Adult Services.

Job Description

This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a real difference in people's lives. As a Community Facilitator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing educational, social, vocational, recreational, and personal development goals for people supported in the service.

You will take a lead in the day-to-day coordination of the service, including filling a key worker role for the people supported by the services. Your goal will be to get people supported involved in their local community, developing active roles and increasing participation in their locality.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Candidates should have at least a QQI Level 6 qualification relevant to the Social Care sector or a similar field.
  • Experience in designing and implementing programs to enable individuals with intellectual disabilities to reach their full potential is highly desirable.
  • A full clean manual driving license is essential, and training may be provided if necessary.
  • Candidates should be proficient in I.T. skills, including computer literacy, modern technology, online systems, and assistive technology.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English is a must for this role.

Other Information

This is a permanent part-time position with 60 hours per fortnight. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, but weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the people we support. Contracted hours of work are liable to change from 8am to 8pm over 7 days to meet the requirements of the program.

The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous public sector service. A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent permanent, temporary, or fixed-term appointments within the Athlone/Roscommon Adult Services may be offered over the next 6 to 12 months.
