Electrical Design Engineer

The role of an Electrical Design Engineer involves creating electrical designs for project-based products that meet the highest standards.

This includes identifying customer requirements, analysing electrical needs, and managing electrical sub-systems to ensure overall electrical functionality is delivered.

Liaising with customers, documenting electrical system interfaces, generating specifications for electrical equipment, and ensuring switchgear design engineers are aware of all electrical requirements are key aspects of this role.

Collaboration with software developers is also crucial to ensure electrical integration requirements are met, while working closely with commissioning engineers to guarantee function and test requirements are fulfilled.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation, electrical or electronic engineering, excellent communication and reporting skills, and experience with drawing packages such as Zuken E3.

Additionally, they should be confident in challenging the status quo, open to adapting new technologies or techniques, and willing to travel internationally as required.

  • Analyse customer requirements to identify electrical needs
  • Distinguish between project-specific or new requirements and standard requirements
  • Manage electrical requirements and ensure all requirements are fulfilled
  • Liaise with customers in respect of design requirements and details
  • Document the crane electrical system interfaces
  • Generate specifications for electrical equipment
  • Manage the integration of electrical sub-systems and solutions
  • Ensure switchgear design engineers are aware of all electrical requirements
  • Work closely with software developers to ensure electrical integration requirements are met
  • Collaborate with commissioning engineers to ensure function and test requirements are fulfilled

Qualifications: Minimum Level 7 degree in Automation / Electrical / Electronic / Mechatronic Engineering. Experience with ABB PLC's an advantage. Knowledge or experience with industrial Ethernet networks an advantage.
