  • This is a hybrid role, requiring the successful candidate to attend our Tralee office.
Role Description

SMBC is seeking an Application Systems Specialist who has a strong passion for providing support on technical production software applications and is interested in building a career at a fast growing and reputable Bank. The Application Systems Specialist will assist with various in-depth debugging and expertise in production software applications. They will be given opportunities to participate in training users in need of assistances and perform tests on new application code. The successful candidate will play a key role in application maintenance and deploying software upgrades to users. This role will report to the Director of Applications.

Role Objectives: Interpersonal
  • Partner with business team leads to gain insight into user needs and develop a plan to improve the utility of implemented applications.
  • Advise the development team of business unit needs and advise on the creation of a roadmap for new processes and features.
  • Engage with key application users to study key business processes, and advise on building procedures to best utilize application features.
  • Conduct periodic meetings of support staff to discuss incident patterns and identify new policies and procedures to improve utility or reliability of applications.
Role Objectives: Expertise
  • Oversee support teams responding to day-to-day technical issues and manage the incident response to service outages.
  • Analyze impact of reported service issues and quickly develop remediation plans.
  • Implement deployment of application code changes and upgrades to both testing and production environments.
  • Create and manage reporting tools, log collection and maintenance scripts to ensure seamless operation of application.
  • Proactive issue identification and data extraction.

Qualifications And Skills
  • Exhibit mastery with support and reporting tools, incident management and issue analysis to improve support procedures and methods.
  • Display comprehensive knowledge of application back-end query tools and scripting languages to support monitoring and proactive issue identification.
  • Possess required knowledge of application development languages to enable real-time debugging of application issues and troubleshooting of code.
  • Show ability to provide counsel to business units in planning and implementation of business applications.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a self-motivated and disciplined approach to learning and working.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills when needed.
  • Possess a highly developed sense of personal accountability and follow-through with an ability to effectively prioritize multiple personal tasks, projects, and goals.
  • 7 years of experience highly desired
